Connection Fee
Connection fee or first minute surcharge is charged when a call is connected. The charge
varies between different service providers. This charge is not significant if you are
buying a small value card and intend to use it at once. But, if you buy a high value card,
with high connection fee, then you end up paying this fee everytime you make a new call.
Maintenance Fee
The maintenance fee or sweet fee is charged if the calling card has balance, after making
the first call. This charge varies between different service providers and their products.
This is generally done for keeping the PIN account active after first use. The charging
is done on weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis, after the first use.
Minutes Rounding
Minutes rounding is the basic unit to record the length of the phone call. This varies between
service providers and products. High value cards may have 30 second rounding and low value cards
may have 3 or 6 minute rounding. This is a very important information, you should know, before
using a card and while talking on the phone.

Prepaid phone cards allow you to pay for your domestic and international long-distance calling
in advance. The cards fit easily in a wallet, can be purchased from stores or vending machines
and allow you to make long-distance calls from virtually any telephone. While the cards are handy
for travelers, some consumers find prepaid cards a convenient way to handle most or all of their
long-distance calling needs. Before you buy a prepaid calling card, make sure you know what you're
getting. (I mean read the fine print)
|
|
Cards sell at a set dollar amount($5, $10, $12, $15, $20, $50) for a stated number of minutes or units.
The card provides your authorization code, also called a personal identification number (PIN). If
you purchase virtual cards on line, your access information is provided by e-mail.
Dial the toll-free number on the card and follow the automated instructions. The call is
connected instantly (not always), and your minutes are deducted based on the destination and
length of the call.

| Prepaid Phone Card Advantages |
|

Having a prepaid card is the no- hassle way to get long distance. There is no sign up, deposit, or

from where the call can originate and country to which the call can be made. The calling rate of
these card varies from country to country, the calling phone (payphone or otherwise) and receiving
phone (normal or cellular). The advantage to this type of card is that it its normally significantly
